Every Paralegal listed on this website is a certified member, in good standing, with the Paralegal Society of Ontario (PSO). It is mandatory for all PSO Voting members to retain Errors & Omissions Liability Insurance. Their Membership Certificate, and/or Membership Card can identify a PSO member. PSO members are dedicated to offering affordable legal services to the public, in their area of expertise, listed in our "Find a Paralegal System" a member is committed to, and governed by, a strict Code of Ethics.

When choosing a Paralegal to represent you, it would be prudent for you to make every effort to ensure the Paralegal provides their credentials and confirms that they are a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Voting members  of the Paralegal Society of Ontario (PSO)  are to be in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada.

The Access to Justice Act, 2006 has passed into law and the Law Society of Upper Canada began regulating Ontario Paralegals as of May 1, 2007.

You need PSO membership more now then ever! Why? Here are the benefits of membership.

  • Errors and Omissions insurance (which is mandatory under Law Society regulation) . The PSO actively reviews our policy and negotiates rates with the industry, benefiting our profession. Depending on the size of your firm, this could save you hundreds or thousands of dollars.

  • A website which will be constantly updated with new information. Some of the information is available to members only.
  • Education on all you will need to know to comply with rigorous Law Society requirements under regulation.
  • Mentoring program where members can shadow another member gaining valuable practicle experience and knowledge;
  • Networking with your peers. It is not uncommon for Paralegals to obtain excess of 30 % of their revenue through referrals from other paralegals.
